International Adventures

On our international adventures you'll have the opportunity to photograph people, landscapes, wildlife and much more. And you'll have fun doing it, an amazing experience to remember, and acquire skills to last a lifetime.

In April 2012 we're off to Costa Rica for a fabulous trip to photograph volcanoes, cloud forest, pristine coastline and all the amazing wildlife which inhabit this biodiverse country, from the majestic hummingbirds to the three-toed sloth.

All levels of photographer are welcome and we'll have two tutors, Chris Coe & Nick Meers, to help you throughout the trip. Between them they have run many successful photo workshops for Photo Iconic and others. They specialize in taking great personal care when explaining the many skills, tricks, and treats of shooting new subjects, by passing on their natural enthusiasm.

During the course you will have plenty of time to discover new ways to develop your photography, while exploring the amazing natural wonders of Costa Rica - the perfect place for a photo holiday. Eat, sleep, live and breathe photography with a sense of fun and passion.

In past years we've had fantastic trips to Kwazulu Natal in South Africa and the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia, where we were ambushed by an unexpected autumn snowfall.

We're currently also looking at adding trips: India with a Twist (November 2013) and The Kingdom of Bhutan (Spring 2013).

Great international photographic trips but don't take our word for it!

Here's what one of our participants said about our Kwazulu Natal adventure:

“I want to express my sincere thanks for the most fun, enjoyable and informative trip to South Africa. It being my first photography course, I really didn't know what to expect, but my fears were put to rest the very first morning when Chris lined us up on the balcony at Isandlwana and talked about 'making' images. 'Find your picture before you grab your camera' will stick with me forever, and it really has made a huge difference to the way I 'make' pictures.

I also appreciated the way that you let us make our mistakes, noted our areas for development, and let that be the basis for our learning. I found that approach to be so much more valuable than a structured textbook or curriculum style of teaching.

I also enjoyed the challenges you threw at me on a daily basis, which steepened the learning curve significantly, and forced me to really think about what I was doing. Believe it or not, it just made the learning all the more fun.

The critique sessions were great also! Being able to see and learn from each other’s work led to a very collaborative approach, which allowed us to give constructive feedback in a safe and comfortable environment. Learning how to critique our own work, whilst being the most difficult, I also found one of the most valuable skills I took away with me.

All in all, the thing I most valued from you both was the way you have fun with photography. Your passion for the craft certainly inspired me, and the fact that I could learn and have fun at the same time was just magic! I think you've given me the bug! I've had withdrawal symptoms ever since I got back!

Thank you so much for a well organised, exciting, varied, fun, challenging and memorable trip! I can't believe it was even a 'class' at all, as I've never had so much fun learning.” Carly Adamson

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."
